Welcome back to my blog!!! I’ve know it’s been a long time coming since my last blog post and to be honest, there has been a number of reasons why I have stopped and started blogging in the resent years. All just to turn around and do the same thing again.
Consistency has been one of my number one struggles in life! I’m getting better though, okay, maybe not? (but I’ll continue to speak it into existence because I believe that one day I will be a consistent son of a gun!)
It’s in my nature to be a bit messy, unorganized, and just all over the place but I believe it’s all apart of some grand scheme of things preparing me to become successful like I know I will be.
But, anyway I am so grateful for the times when I show up for myself and for my readers too. I hope y’all haven’t officially given up hope on me yet lol.
Well anyway, Happy New Year! (Do people still say that in the middle of January?) Not that I care what other people say or do anyway, right?
Anywho, I hope everyone had a fun and safe time bringing in the new year and if you’re anything like me. You tend to have more goals than resolutions and you begin working on them right away expecting to see immediate results and get discouraged when you don’t.
Well, this year I took a slightly different approach and made a resolution to SLOW DOWN!
To smell the roses, enjoy my surroundings, love the people in my life, celebrate myself, try new things, travel more, and just experience life the way I want to experience it..
Over the years, I spent so much time trying to be “busy” that I was actually accomplishing nothing but BURNOUT SYNDROME AND CONSTANT TEMPORARY DEFEAT! (Anyone else know the feeling?) Yeah, that one. It’s the literal representation of cycling, you’re exhausting the energy but literally going nowhere. (Hmph, never liked cycling anyway!)
My generation and culture are normalizing this “hustle hard” mentality and not in the best way. It’s to the point, where I feel guilt just to take a day or two off to just lay around watching movies to avoid burnout. The weird thing, there is an emphasize on Self Love, but it’s almost like people who choose to enjoy downtime are looked down upon as not working hard enough. That’s not what it should be like at all. We’re taking away from our health and well being just to work all the time whether it’s to pay bills or start a business when the real key lies in the hands of teamwork!
“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” –Henry Ford
I say all the time, how an amazing team of people who have similar passions and can come together can create a future they’ve only dreamt of alone. Me included, I find that I indulge myself in the idea and dreams of others because I truly believe teamwork makes the dreamwork and i’m willing to put the work in to make that dream flourish!
I wish more of us felt the same way about working and coming together because the opportunities for us all would become endless. If you’re needing some motivation to believe in the dreamwork check out this article by INC emphasizing some famous folks who knew their team would help their dream! https://www.inc.com/dave-kerpen/15-quotes-to-inspire-great-team-work.html
I say all that to say, this year 2020 let’s take time to indulge in the beauty of the world around us and create teams of people that will help us grow and build the dream we collectively have! Helping those you love and loving those you help tend to go hand in and hand. I am here to give and open to receive all the love the world has to offer and I hope you are as well!
